The former Financial Times building has been reconfigured into the third WPP campus in London as part of an integrated locations strategy to accommodate various group companies. The existing building was stripped to allow for new additions, including massing extensions and two extra levels, increasing the net internal area. The new building’s exterior features a modular facade with glass curtain walls, solid panels, and metal perforated fins for sun control and privacy. GRC panels segment the facade into distinct rhythms at three levels and clad the existing U-shape concrete columns at lower levels. A sawtooth-shaped blue metal screen conceals rooftop equipment while trying to blend with the sky. Two public pathways around the site promote pedestrian north-south connectivity: a new commercial street with retail units on the arches under Southwark Bridge Rd on the west side and a semipublic green courtyard with seating areas on the east.
